DAY 15: Beauty in Southern Pines

Observation of the day

Being young of spirit has nothing to do with your age, as we are reminded every time we see Nana Donny.

Quote of the day

“That statue looks so real.” – said by EM as we were departing from the McDonoughs when a very REAL fawn popped out of the neighbor’s front yard as if to say “so long!”

Our deer friend saying good-bye!

Remi had a hard time waking up to face the day.

VM: Today we reluctantly arose from our comfy accommodations and enjoyed a chilly, lazy and DRY morning drinking coffee on the McDonoughs’ awesome deck. No doubt about it, their spot on the mountain is a peaceful little piece of Heaven. Again, Jeannine spoiled us with a yummy homemade breakfast and then we finished packing up our car to head southeast to Nana Donny’s.

Loved that our chicken friends were here
to welcome us back at Tanglewood Farm.

Fresh-picked flowers welcomed us back.

It was an easy drive on non-crowded state highways. By 3:15pm we pulled into Tanglewood Farm Bed & Breakfast (https://tanglewoodfarmbandb.com/index.html). We are so grateful to stay here again, although VM had a sad moment driving in remembering the last time we had been here in December accompanied by our beloved Millie & Mila. We have happy memories of walking them in the early morning saying good morning to the horses.

We have new bunny friends outside our front door.

After unpacking our hillbilly car, we headed over to Nana Donny’s for supper. We were so happy to see her in great spirits looking very chic in her jade top and pixie haircut. We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed catching up. Afterwards, we joined a few of the other ladies who live at Nana Donny’s place to enjoy tonight’s movie – The Terminal starring Tom Hanks. We all enjoyed it and it was a nice, relaxing evening.

So happy to be here toasting the queen!
